March 3, 2025 — In collaboration with LG Development, Sol Ashbach, the Chicago restaurateur behind city hot spots Little Bad Wolf, The Good Wolf and Gretel, will open a two-level restaurant, bar, coffee shop and grocery store — complete with a deli counter and butcher shop — just off the 606’s Bloomingdale Trail in Bucktown this spring.
The project, named Wolf & Company, will be located in the Trailhead Apartments building at 1744 N. Western Ave with direct access to the Trail.
By far Ashbach’s biggest and most complex concept to-date, he was inspired to expand into the grocery business after inspiring discussions with LG Development, which owns the building.
“[The space] dictated what we’re capable of doing and what we were able to bring to the space, which was really nice,” Ashbach said. “It was like, OK, you come into the cafe, can order coffee and go downstairs, do some grocery shopping, go back out on the trail.”
Pending final construction timelines, the highly anticipated opening is slated for May 1st.
