Key Permit Filed for Multi-Phase Mixed-Use Project from LG Development

News & Announcements

May 7, 2025 — After receiving City Council approval last September, a caisson permit has been filed for the first building of a multi-phase, mixed-use two-tower project from LG Development on the former Amylu Foods site at 170 N. May St.

As reported by Urbanize Chicago, the tower constructed in the first phase — ultimately the shorter of the two buildings — will rise to 27 stories tall with 322 dwelling units, according to the permit filing.

The design, by bKL Architecture, features a long podium facade with brick, which is juxtaposed

with a metal facade on the northern portion in reference to the industrial qualities of the metal L track structures. The brick portion includes a large anchor retail space, with over 500 combined vehicle and bike parking spaces expected to be part of the development’s final design.

An updated timeline for the first phase of construction on the $300 million project is expected to be released this summer.
