1516 W Carroll is an adaptive reuse project that earned a Design Excellence Award from AIA Chicago. LG Group Construction is proud to see the project recognized for its thoughtful design and execution, especially as it strikes a strong balance between preservation and modern use.
The project transforms a 1920s high bay warehouse and attached office building into a flexible, mixed-use environment for food, design, and creative businesses. The ground floor hosts a restaurant, coffee bar, retail space, design studio, and apothecary workshop. The second floor drives collaboration and production with a food innovation film studio, test kitchen, private dining area, offices, and event space. The Roof Crop’s rooftop farm and greenhouses crown the third level.
Throughout the building, exposed structure and a restrained material palette let different eras of construction speak for themselves. The space now houses tenants including The Roof Crop and Maxwells Trading. Located at 1516 W Carroll, the project embodies a shared commitment to craft, adaptability, and long-term value. The recognition from AIA Chicago affirms the strength of the team and the impact of intentional reuse.
